PRCA Rodeo Clown

Charlie "Too Tall" West, the world's smallest barrel man and pro rodeo clown.

A professional barrelman for 25 years, Charlie is also the smallest at 4 feet, 6 inches. He got into a barrel at age 18 on a dare and the barrel was so large he had to put a mattress inside to take up the extra room. West had so much fun getting rammed by bulls, he kept on doing it.

Rodeos have been part of West's life since he can remember.  His mom was a rodeo secretary. Growing up, he was a member of 4-H and raised pigs.  In high school he team roped and rode bulls, but after getting slam-dunked one time too many, he decided to stop riding them and try his hand at being a barrelman.

Part of West's rodeo act involves a miniature horse named Molly and his two Jack Russell terriers, Mickey and Sport.  Mickey does a dig fish routine, Sports does a dogcatcher act, and Charles does a Little Elvis routine as well.

West has worked in numerous PBR events and works at the NFR rolling out the red carpet every night.  He has a SAG (Screen Actor's Guild) card and has worked in numerous commercials and has appeared in the movie City Slickers and in the television series Deadwood.

In his spare time, West and his wife Mitch raise miniature horses in Loomis.  He also enjoys playing golf and visiting hospitals and rest homes.  West works at rodeos nearly the entire year.  While most of those rodeos are in California, he also has worked in Hawaii, Alaska and Canada.

According to West, the thing he enjoys most about being a rodeo clown is seeing smiles on people's faces, the applause from the crowd and all the interesting people he meets.
